Analysis of the underlying questions and assumptions, experimental approach, results and significance of work described in selected biomedical research presentations. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: BIOL 200. Limited to students in second year.
CAPS_V 205 (3) Fundamentals of Physiology in Human Health and Disease I
The principles of physiological regulation of neuromuscular, cardiovascular and blood systems in the human body with practical applications in health and disease. Credit will only be granted for one of CAPS 301 or CAPS 205. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: All of BIOL 112, CHEM 123, MATH 101. and 100-level PHYS beyond PHYS 100.
CAPS_V 206 (3) Fundamentals of Physiology in Human Health and Disease II
The principles of physiological regulation of respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine and reproductive systems in the human body with practical applications in health and disease. Credit will only be granted for one of CAPS 301 or CAPS 206. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: All of BIOL 112, CHEM 123, MATH 101. and 100-level PHYS beyond PHYS 100.

An on-line course teaching students to research and understand relevant health diagnoses. Not for students with Biology 12, Anatomy and Physiology 12, or enrolled in the Faculties of Science, Land and Food Systems, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Applied Science or School of Kinesiology. [3-0-0]

A study of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of human health, disease and therapeutics. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: BIOL 234 and one of CAPS 205, CAPS 206, BIOL 200.
CAPS_V 310 (3) Modern Biomedical Research Techniques and their Application
Core and advanced biomedical research techniques which have impacted our current understanding of health and disease. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: One of MATH 101, BIOL 112, BIOL 121 and one of BIOL 234, BIOL 335, BIOL 338. And PHYS 100-level beyond PHYS 100.
CAPS_V 390 (3) Introduction to Microscopic Human Anatomy
Organ system development, structure and function at the microscopic level. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: One of BIOL 121, SCIE 001. BIOL 200 is recommended.
CAPS_V 391 (3) Introduction to Gross Human Anatomy
Structure and function of body regions at the macroscopic level. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: One of BIOL 121, SCIE 001, KIN 190, KIN 191.
CAPS_V 398 (3) Cooperative Work Placement
Approved and supervised relevant work experience in an industrial, academic, or government setting for a minimum of 13 weeks full-time. Work term report required. Restricted to students admitted to the Co-op Option in Cellular, Anatomical and Physiological Sciences (B.Sc.). Prerequisite: All of CAPS 205, CAPS 303 and one of CAPS 206, CAPS 301. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.
CAPS_V 399 (3) Cooperative Work Placement II
Approved and supervised relevant work experience in an industrial, academic, or government setting for a minimum of 13 weeks full-time. Work term report required. Restricted to students admitted to the Co-op Option in Cellular, Anatomical and Physiological Sciences (B.Sc.). Prerequisite: CAPS 398. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.
CAPS_V 421 (3) Cell Biology and Human Disease
Outlines major discoveries and current advancements that are revolutionizing our understanding of subcellular structures and function in health and disease, such as cancer. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: Either (a) all of CAPS 306, CAPS 310 or (b) one of CAPS 301, NSCI 300. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.
CAPS_V 422 (3) Mammalian Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiology
The control and integration of cardio-pulmonary function in mammals. Intended for Honours students in Cellular, Anatomical and Physiological Sciences or other life sciences. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: A cumulative average of 75% over at least 90 credits attempted in the first three years of a student's program and a minimum mark of 75% in CAPS 301 or PHYL 301 or its equivalent. Permission of the course director is also required.

Control of human renal and gastrointestinal systems. Role in homeostasis in health and disease. Intended for students in Cellular, Anatomical and Physiological Sciences or other life sciences. [3-0-0] Prerequisite: Either (a) all of CAPS 305, CAPS 306 or (b) CAPS 301.
