Declaring a Major

Students are not required to declare a major until their second session of registration in the Faculty. Most majors are non-competitive and students can self-declare in Workday. Students interested in a competitive major but not yet eligible should declare a noncompetitive major in Workday while working towards eligibility for their preferred major. Students who have not declared a major by their second session in the Faculty may have a registration hold placed on their account until a major is declared.

Students in Global Resource Systems are not required to declare a major. Students are encouraged to review available majors and admission requirements, where applicable, in the individual program entries.

Students planning to transfer degree programs are still required to follow the course requirements for the program in which they are currently enrolled.

Program Deficiency

Students are expected to register in the courses required of their degree program. Students who take an excess of courses outside their program of study may be found in Program Deficiency. Students deemed to be in Program Deficiency may be required to withdraw from the Faculty, regardless of their Academic Standing. Students who are assigned Program Deficiency in two consecutive years will be required to withdraw from the Faculty, regardless of their Academic Standing.

Students not meeting the minimum academic standing required for compulsory courses in a given program may be assigned Program Deficiency and may be required to withdraw from that program.
