Program Overview

The Master of Educational Technology (M.E.T.) is a Faculty of Education degree program offered online.

Students who successfully complete courses to satisfy the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology, Graduate Certificate in Technology Based Distributed Learning, or Graduate Certificate in Technology Based Learning for Schools and are admitted to the Master of Educational Technology may request to ladder up to 15 of the certificate credits toward the requirements for the master’s program.

Admission Requirements

Students are required to meet the general requirements for admission to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at UBC.

Successful applicants normally have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in education, broadly defined as the process of facilitating learning at any level and in any context. In addition, preference is given to candidates who use educational technology in their workplaces or who intend to expand their practice to include educational technology.

Program Requirements

The M.E.T. degree is a professional development, course-based program (non- thesis) consisting of a minimum of 30 credits of coursework with 12 credits of core coursework and 18 credits of electives. Fees are on a per-course basis. Further information can be obtained from the Program by email.
